Have a stock stroke 360 somewhere around 10 to 1
Street strip car, mildly worked eddie heads.
5k convertor, couple sizes too big camshaft( 260/264) that was on the shelf when i needed a cam
Car currently has an air gap, gonna make few test hits when i get it out( hopefully next month if the track opens with this corona virus stuff) the way the car sits to reestablish a baseline ET
Then going to swap to a 7545 Weiand excellerator that i will have port matched and try it. With current tapered spacer and an open spacer as well the following outing.
Excellerator is an intake i have used with good results in the past. Kinda a mild single plane
The car, at the track, lives between the convertor flash, 5000, the shift points, 6200, and the trap rpm(6400 ish)
Hoping it picks the car up 1/2 a tenth or so. Just purchased the intake at the Indy swap meet.
Thoughts?

I think you may lose a little on the 60’ and 330’ but gain a little up top going from an AG to the Weiand especially only spinning it to 6200

interesting. I didnt figure with how high the convertor stalls that the 60 would suffer at all.
If it indeed does car probably wont overcome that elsewhere

You would know about that much more than I for sure, just a hunch from reading a lot about the Air Gap vs. single planes on many forums for various makes, Mopars included and the rpm range that the AG still is strong. Only one way up find out!

Only one way to know for sure.

Too many intangibles for it to be any other way.

I had a 360 motor on the dyno last spring.
Way less head, way smaller cam, smaller dual plane intake than yours.....made peak tq@4800.

At 5000, the Weiand may not have surpassed the RPM, and the RPM may allow the motor to get a better run at the converter.

The only way to know how it will play out is to try it.

What is your gear ratio and Tire diameter?

28 radial and 4.30. Actually ran 4.10’s and started howling, swapped in a new pumpkin. Doesnt run any better in the 1/4 with the extra gear

3300 with me. Car runs 11.30 to 11.50 depending on conditions. Has dipped in the 20’s several times

What’s the 60’ and speed?

its been as good as 1.52, almost 119, 11.26
More typically in the 40’s at 117xx and 1.55
All the numbers are fine for what it is. Pretty happy actually. I can just literally “ feel” the weight of that stock shortblock in high gear.

The xcellerator will benefit from a 3/8- 1/2 spacer, right off the bat.
I ran one for yeeeeeears.
The game changer is the cam@.050 and the 5ooo flash
I think the xcellerator , with a spacer will work best/et

If the cam were smaller, I think they might be about the same.

Single plane will be better. Your set up is begging for the single!
That is really an underrated dual purpose intake . You put a big spacer and it's close o the most popular single planes used to today. The air gap is no slouch either...just it's better suited for a cam under 258@.050...but you can tune anything be it adjustment or swapping for influencial parts.

open or tapered 4 hole?

No mention of the carb at all? Will you be running a smaller carb now that you have a much larger plenum volume?

I would consider going back to the 430 if this is a race only application in combination with the single plane manifold ibelieve you will put down your fastest times, I ran a M1 single plane with the 509 purple shaft 430 rear end with a 4-speed it was a lethal combination. Mine was a 340 though

4.30’s are in it and staying

I feel if you can keep RPMs above 5000 after shifts you will make gains with a single plane but if your RPMs are dropping below that it'll probably be hard to beat the RPM air gap
