Stop in for a cup of coffee

Neighbor across the street runs a garden at their church. She was saying for the little ones, they sprout some bean seeds so the kids can see how plant emerges . Maybe a little soil on a paper towel? I can't remember quite how she said they have the kids do it.
She also said the kids love pulling the carrots out of the ground, whereas the older folks are much more into growing the greens.
I remember as a kid liking picking peas and stringbeans the most. We never had great carrots. Probably soil too rich and not sandy enough.

When we were kids, my parents planted a strawberry patch next to our shed in the back yard... Mom wondered why they didn't get any strawberries for three years, until one day she caught one of our Dalmatians eating the strawberries... That Dal learned to eat the sweet ripe red ones and leave the green ones for later... Amazing how dogs figure these things out.... :D
