It will be fine as long as you are going straight when you open it up.
It will not be as violent as you think it will be.
Tires do have to have traction.
My plan for my first hit was to get going about 45 and rake it down into third gear making sure it's past 3K and give it a hit.. I have 275 60 15 nitto 555 drag radials so I'm thinking I got pretty good traction at least at that speed...
