Hey All, thinking of swapping out my 14x6" small bolts for a set of 8".
Whats everyone running out back, stock springs stock wheelwells…..
Whats the largest I can fit back there???

Thanks,

I think 7's with a 4'' backspace is about the biggest you can run without moving the springs.

My son's 65 B'cuda and I don't have a pic of it showing the clearance. 15x8 wheel vintiques sbp mopar looking rallye with 4.25 backspace. Running 235 60's. Stock spring location, a body 8.75 rear with Dr diff green bearing axles. No clearance issues.

Thanks,
Measure what you have and see how much bigger you can go. If you have a inch clearance on the inside and outside you should be able to fit a 8" wheel with the same backspace. A half inch inside and a inch and a half outside is the same thing. You can roll or trim the fender lip for a little extra clearance.

If you can move your springs inboard you can go to a 275. I'm running 275 40R17s in the stock wheel well. My sep up is:

1965 barracuda, rear springs are moved in but stock wheel well but running Yukon axels as they push the offset out 3/8 inch. Dr. diff green bearings with stock A body 8 3/4 diff.
Rear tires 275 40r17 and rims are 17 x 9 with 5.95 back space. front rims are 17 x 8 running 225 45r17's with 10"spindles and disc brakes.
I bought these rims from American muscle, yea a mustang place but they were awesome at helping me get the right offset. Pictures on the link below.

Post your wheel and tire combos.

The Percy's wheel and tire tool is a great way to find out before you spend money on tires and wheels that don't fit. It measures YOUR car to see exactly what will fit. Works good too.

I had a C body 8.75 cut down and running 245-60-15 with 4.25 back space. Buy the way what color paint is on your car. Mine is headed to paint soon

Thanks for all the ideas, I'm not looking to lay more rubber, I need wider in the rear so it doesn't look like a 6 from the outside......
I'm currently running 205-70-14's all around on 14x6" rallyes. I'm gonna look at max 8' wide as I had them on a previous '68 fastback.

Too bad you don't have a buddy around that has some 8's you could try. No matter what you do, check both sides. Most Mopars are a little off from side to side.

I still have small bolt pattern; run 15 x 7 Cragars all around, 225/60/15 tires. I have 15 x 8's on the rear of my 67, but they don't come close to fitting the 65. (Not saying 8's won't fit a 65 with the correct offset; interesting that the 15 x 7's fit my 65 better than the 14 x 6's that I used to run.)

I just put 235-70-15's on the rear of my 65 There's no more room as the tires are 28" tall and 9.3" wide You can barely fit a finger between the sidewall and wheel house. It doesn't rub. Look at the stance I'd say "perfect"

I have run both a 245/60-14 and the current 245/60-15 on my 66 Valiant with no issues. Tan rims are the 14's, black rims are the 15's. The 15's are all I'd want back there, I have about 3/8" to the spring and a finger width to the fender well, lips are not rolled. Both were 7" rims and SBP.

I got them from Summit, they are Wheel Vintiques brand. I think the backspacing was 4-1/8"? Make sure you check any fat tire/rim to your car, they do vary some for available space. If you go this route do a test fit with just the wheels only before you mount the tires. That way if you need something different you can return or exchange the wheels for what will fit.
