700R4 GM in a Swinger?
Update to Post #11 in this thread...
Several years ago I bit the bullet and had Extreme Automatics (
Extreme Automatics) in Ohio build me a 200-4R reverse-pattern, full manual shift lockup transmission to go behind the 360 small block in my current '69 Dart build. Extreme Automatics cut the bellhousing off of the 200-4R and bolted on a new SFI-approved bell from Reid Racing.
I used the trans crossmember from U.S. Cartool (
67-75 A-Body GM2004R Crossmember Kit).
The 200-4R fits in my '69 Dart tunnel without any surgery. It also has a better gearspread than any of the Mopar OD transmissions and uses less horsepower to turn it.
I will be running 4.30 gears in the differential and the 0.67 OD of the 200-4R will give me the equivalent of 2.88 gears while cruising down the highway.
Win/Win in my book.
