Well I do know around here all the garages are called pole barns for tax purposes. I've considered metal over wood, but haven't reached that decision yet.
I got one guy here who puts up all the farmers buildings (metal) and with the finished pad can have it done in a couple days.
On the other hand wood has its advantages also.
