When your grinding off that nice paint to weld on the spring perches don't forget to weld on some tabs to mount the factory brake line if that's what you are going to use. :poke:

Yea I thought of that when I was painting it lol it's ok tho I can repaint it I was getting sick of it rusting. Do me a favor when you reinstall everything take some good pictures of the brake lines and hoses I'm not 100 percent sure how I'm gonna hook mine up. I know I got the hoses from the caliper to a t from there I'm not really sure what to do. I have the brake line to the master cylinder I'm just not sure how to "T" it in I guess.

Update time. Got alot done the past couple days but no real progress seems like everything I do puts me 3 steps in the wrong direction lol. I got the rearend finished up and the axles back in and got my spring arches in the mail. In the process of measuring I realized something was seriously wrong there is a lot of play in the axles I thought I messed up and cut the tube wrong or something but come to find out the carrier bearings are bad (or at least I hope that's what it is) I pulled the carrier yesterday and got the old bearings off and ordered new ones I went ahead and ordered the axle bearings and seals too might as well replace them while I'm at it. I was gonna spray some paint today but then it started raining so I guess it will have to wait another day. Today I'm being lazy havent done much I'm getting ready to go find something to do I gotta mow the yard at some point lol

I forgot the before pics. I peeled off the tire sticker there in the door jam and found some original paint! It was kinda hard to sand that off such a pretty color.

I also played around with the paint I got for my dash I really like it I think its gonna look great.

I was at a similar spot with my 8.8 last year. I would just tack the perches on until you have verified spacing and pinion angle.

Well found more problems like I said i take one step forward 10 back. I decided I'd work on something different today its calling for rain later and I didnt want to do a bunch of paint prep then get rained on so I cleaned out the inside I figured I could go ahead and remove the dash pad and paint the dash. When I removed the front seat I found this. :BangHead:
I knew I had a little rust in the rear floor pan but I had no idea it was this bad.

Can show us what paint you used? Spray can? Looks real good. You are lucky to be getting so much done!

Yea man its rustoleum metallic dark copper. It's just a spray can. I do alot better work with rattle can that's trying to spray it lol.

Cool. I have seen those paints at Walmart. Thinking of painting my Rallye wheels with the silver one. I paint better with spray can also lol

Got some work done on this rainy day I started stripping all the sealer of the floors getting ready to cut them out, got the seat belts out and all the plugs out. Also got the wiper pivots out and found a leak to fix. The cowl and airbox is full of crap (mouse nest I'm assuming) gonna try to get all that crap out and order wiper gaskets and bushings and hopefully get started on the floor in the next day or two.

I just read through this whole post, and am now embarrassed that I made thread on how hard it was to rotate my car on the rotisserie, because I'm an idiot and cant tell up from down. I get mad at myself because I cant put down a professional looking bad with my Lincoln mig welder. I whined because I had to scrape all the undercoating off by hand with a heat gun and a scraper then wheel my rotisserie out and power wash the residue off. What I'm saying is not bragging. You've put me in my place and I feel like a punk now. Good job OP

You're doing great things. The first few pages my mindset was, there is no way hes going to do this, with this budget, and was waiting for someone to start berating you for even trying with what you were working with. (Big kudos to the FABO members for not doing that and only being inspirational. Never been on a forum where that didnt happen)
Now after reading page 32......dude you got this.

I'm curious if you have any engine updates?

I have been fortunate. I have a 1972 dart swinger. It came with a 318 and a 904 trans. My brother from another mother has a 65 sport fury that had a 440 in it. He has a 6.1 hemi he is swapping into his car. Another friend has a 66 charger with an fairly angry 383 in it. As you can probably tell where I'm going with this we now have my original 318 and 904 not going to be used for anything that I can think of, because if I take on another project my wife will divorce me and I wont even be able to finish this project. I know for a fact that it ran before I took it out of my car. I know it ran because I worked on the wiring harness for 2 days to get it to start. Compression test was done and all cylinders were at 150 or better (wish I remembered exactly). The leak down test was done cold and the engine hadn't been started since the 80s. I fogged the cylinders lightly and the worst leakdown was 15%.

I put a brand new el cheapo jegs cam in it (my brother from another mother works at Jegs and said it was one step up from stock), comp springs, new valve seals, lifters, and timing set. There is a brand new weiand dual plane intake bolted on it, a rebuilt edelbrock carb on it and a set of hooker headers for power steering on it. I have a new gasket set that needs put on. Had a known I would be given a free big block I wouldn't have bought all this stuff. If you're interested PM me and I'll try to make you the deal of a life time. I also have a new water pump, alternator, and other little pieces here and there. All of the engine stuff is still new. I did not start the engine after putting this stuff on. We pulled the engine to put the headers on and found some frame rust and the engine didnt go back in.

I also noticed you said you would need a new set of torsion bars. I have my originals that I just literally took out yesterday. They seem fine to me, i didnt beat on them or use a pipe wrench to take them out. Just dropped the lower arm and they pulled out by hand.
I should probably be putting this stuff in for sale but I've been in your spot. Not having a lot of money to put into something your passionate about. So I'm giving you first dibs. I have a brand new passenger side front floor pan. I know your damage is in the rear but just letting you know. The original 4 piston KH small bolt pattern brakes I'm getting rid of but they're small bolt pattern and probably of no use to you. I have multiple fenders, multiple hoods, multiple trunk lids, doors, glass, duplicates of dash trim pieces and other stuff that I dont even know what they are. Unsure of any of that is interchangeable to a 1975. If you need something ask, I forget about most of the stuff I have.

Keep doing what you're doing. I like when someone posts saying "you cant do that" you come back with pictures showing that you just did that, and you're humble about it.

I apologize to the moderators if this is against the rules. Just needed to give you and the other members props.

Thanks buddy I appreciate the support that means alot to me. Its tough doing this stuff without expensive tools and a garage but I am determined lol it just takes me a lot longer. That and being on a budget and juggling work 3 kids home chores and all that really restricts the time I can put into the car. It's funny how it works because alot of times I work 2 or 3 days of overtime to get something I need but then I get so far behind in time once I buy the part I needed I don't have time to work on the car. I'm doing a side job for a buddy of mine to make a couple extra hundred bucks to buy some pistons then I discovered the rust issue. Just how it works I guess. I will pm you tomorrow and we can discuss some parts I do need a few things we can work out something. As far as the torsion bars go I got some from a member here. My engine plans are to do the 360 I have everything for it minus the pistons and machine work. Every time I save up some money to give to the machinist something else comes up and I have to spend it haha. If you have the storage I'd hang on to that 318 you never know when you can use it. I have a 318 block that needs rebuilding to ( the one at the beginning of this thread) this project has been a journey for sure and I still have a long way to go but it feels great to get one thing accomplished and move on the the next. I really appreciate you following along I hope you continue to. Guys like you and a bunch other here keep me motivated and when I see guys on here with their finished rides it makes me that much more determined to get there. I will PM you later thanks alot buddy!

It's looking better now I wire wheeled the frame rebuild the whole front suspension. I havent finished painting the frame yet but I have painted the front half. Every thing up front is new now. Eventually I'm gonna replace the rear leafs too. I'm gonna use the white dodge I bought for the the lower doors fenders bed hood and of course the 360

Good Lord lookit that body rot. It's been a long time since I have seen holes I can fit my hands through. Out here in west Texas they throw these trucks away because they are worn out not rusted out.

Here in Ohio they came off the showroom floor with the wheel arches, rockers and lower doors rusted.

You should see my 2005 Silverado in KS, it looks like I cut the bed wheel openings out with a chainsaw from all of the rust. My rocker panels are almost non-existent.

East coast rust....it was parked in 1976 because the floor was gone.

This guy right here knows the struggles with the rust belt! Hahaha. Hell yea man everything out here is rusty like that. If it ain't it's been patched at some point I learned that the hard way.
