My customers are happy when I drill out the separator plate as per the TransGo instructions and leave it at that. A good 1-2 is all that's needed on the street. I guess that new manual valve so the converter charges in park, but it doesn't read the same in park as neutral anyway with the new valve, so there's that. Just start it in neutral.
