Appliance reviews?

Thanks guys, I hear and agree with you on new stuff and maintaining the old stuff. This Maytag washer is more unbalanced then I am, so a new one will be bought.
Mike I hear you about service/warranty. We have quite a few choices within 1/2 hour drive for "big box stores" and smaller ones, but would like to spend my $$ with the small guy that needs my $$.
I have learned my lesson with warranties and a big screen TV lol. (For example The Brick!!)

I went to CR to see what posted there, but gotta buy a membership. I may just do that.
Kenmore=Sears, (I think) hopefully it's still good quality. I understand s**t breaks down, but I want someone to stand behind it and not some 3rd party offshore based company.
GE is another quality one I was thinking about. (Samsung and WP also). Samsung we have zero issues with, whether a TV, or laptop, anything really...so far lol.
Thanks all much appreciated.
Oh we will also be looking into the extended warranty also.
Where can you get service if/when you need it? My mother-in-law bought a LG washer from Lowes and had a heck of a time getting service and warranty. Lowes just sells them and doesn't provide service. The locals that sell/ and service didn't want to do warranty work for a washer they didn't sell. I try to buy from the local appliance store that sells and services their products. Just a thought.

don't know if you like consumer reports, but you can do a 1 month subscription for ~ $10.

there all junk , sorry to be so negative but it's the truth . maybe look at the industrial versions .

maintain your current rig.

New washers are a joke. The gov implemented "water saving" mandates and, to meet them, manufacturers cannot make a washer that actually works. The web is flooded with consumer complaints about dry detergent powder all over their clothes, inadequate rinsing, clothes still soiled, and the "extra" water options are laughable. You're better off with a 25 year old speed queen.

went through this recently, myself. if you need to learn this the hard way, make sure you set yourself up for easy returns.

Check out CR.org Steve. I have always had good luck with Kenmore stuff, but that may be no more

My personal preference is GE. I built this house with GE appliance package over 30 years ago. Everything has been replaced, but only once. Except the clothes dryer, It's OEM.
I've heard that everything Samsung builds is overpriced junk. So long as I can buy GE I'll never know.
And yes the newer GE washing machine is the water saver type. We use the proper HE grade liquid detergent. We wear clean clothes. I'll admit we had our doubts when we first saw the short disc like agitator. Nastiest ever thrown in was a couple of towels loaded with dog blood, vomit, and ****, back when Niki was hit by a car. Yeah... it cleans laundry.
