Week got off to bad start, wife took our old guy, Dunham to the vet on Monday, he's lost a lot of weight recently, about 12 lbs in the past 6 weeks or so, he still eats as normal, gets the same amount of exercise, so we were concerned about him. The vet did some blood work and found his liver enzymes were more than 6 times higher than normal, along with some other issues, she believes that he has mass on his liver, and another on his adrenal gland. Prognosis is not very good, the vet expects he has about 6 months. My wife was absolutely devastated, he's her buddy, we've had him from 10 weeks old, and wherever she is, he's almost guaranteed to be there. He sleeps beside her most nights, occasionally he will sleep near me but there's no doubt he's attached to her, and she to him, I really am not looking forward to losing him, besides how upset I will be, I know that she will be totally crushed. She talked with her best friend a couple times this week, and is taking her advice to heart, that being to enjoy every day that we have with him, and not focus on the eventuality of his passing, we know it's inevitable, regardless of the diagnosis. Still sucks no matter how you look at it.
