How do you prime the oil pump?

cant it just be primed through the sensor port? cuz i cant reach the 2 ports on the side. got lots of **** in the way to access them at this point. have oil pressure tank setup for 4an fitting to sensor port already. pump is dry. was hoping i could just hand turn the crank or start crank it till pressure builds at pump. along with priming tank on sensor to engine bearings to keep them coated till primed.
