Hello , so I purchased a 360 built for oval track racing ran numbers looks to be a 71. It doesn't have an oil dipstick. Where it is supposed to be is a solid block no hole. Any advice? Is there a kit to install it at the right angle.

On the passenger's side front of the block, down low next to the timing cover area just above the oil pan rail.

Yes I know where it is supposed to be but this one is not present.

show us a picture, show us the block casting number, a 1971 360 block has a small raised area with a machined hole like millions of other 318 340 360 blocks

Wondering if some heavy truck/ industrial engines maybe had the stick into the side of the pan?

Never heard of a kit to put one in. What's the number on the block?

How about a picture of the left front of the block as you're standing in front of the motor. That would be the passenger side front just above the oil pan.

I think some marine industrial engines had larger pans with a dipstick, and all used the same block.

I've never heard of that either, but if the casting boss is there, I would just drill an appropriate sized hole there and install the tube.
But if the boss is not there either, then IDK.
I have seen the dipstick hole filled, and painted over.

Since the pan has to come off anyway to remove the drill shavings, maybe you will see the evidence of the hole from the bottom.
