Booster to master cylinder rod setting

OEM brakes on a 73 Duster. Power brakes not acting like they should. What should be the adjustment setting be for the push rod? Booster checks out, vacuum and valve is fine.
Just need to do a final check on the gap for the rod. I've seen where the gap should be .020", just not sure if this is correct.

That's about right. If you adjust it too long, the brakes never fully release. Can't find a spec in my 72 FSM.
 
I would not get it "that touchy." You damn sure don't want it long. You want to be certain the piston can return fully
 
I made a tool out of wood just like this one to adj. mine.
