All cars have collector plates, except the '68, but it will have a personalized one in a few months. I'm even getting a personalized collector plate for a car that isn't going to be on the road for years!
 
Where can I find one? Your source.
They are tough to find. I found those on ebay, the one on the car was new in the box. Searched ebay for months searching "Vietnam license plate" or something similar. Expect to pay $50 to $100 for a decent one

I posted a pic of front end of my Challenger earlier in this post showing my original dealership license plate frames. Since that time I scored on original ad inserts from the same dealership. These things are hard to find, especially since when the license plates actually arrived for your car the owner usually trashed these things. This really takes the car back to the days before purchase.

I looked at the California DMV form to get vanity plates. Nowhere on the form do I see a place to tie the new black and orange plates to my current plates or registration. It says when the vanity plates are ready, 12 weeks, you pick them up at a local DMV. Do they take your registration at that point and connect it to your new plates? Confusing.

ya, they just issue you a new, temp reg with the new plate info.
