Stop in for a cup of coffee

I'm sure that plays into it to a degree, but only a little. There's been many periods of history, and also other societies, where jobs and traditional roles have not been the same as what we have considered the norm.
This is different. Not enough time at the moment to write and proof. But its different on at least two levels. One about how we (as a society) view altering the physical body. Another is how we as a society prioritize individual wants visavis what is best for the community as whole. Those are just two, but there's more.
