Hello,

How can i tell if I have a 904 or 727 and if 727, how will I know if it will bolt up to SB?
Thanks

Small block measures 7.75 between the top two holes, big block measures 6.25" between the top two holes. 727 pan has a kickout on the pass side, the 904 pan is more square with a corner trimmed off.

This is real easy without having to get out the tape measures and slide rules. The 904 has two small bolt holes on the bottom that hold the converter cover on. The 727 has four. The 904 has a four o'clock starter position with a scallop curve at the bottom and the 727 has a three o'clock starter position with no scallop. Easy peasy.

and if they are "unknown" don't forget the oddities, IHC/ AMC and I don't remember what all else. They made some sort of torqueflite for the US Postal American General "Jeeps" I think they bolted to an iron duke
