The distributor was not an issue because I would have been using a F.A.S.T. engine management. Also the magnums do not have a distributor. It came down to having a narrow 50+ year old car with no modern features.
You are right, many diehard Mopar people didn't even know that Chrysler owned the Sunbeam in the end.
