Anyone running sanderson headers on there small block ?

I am running dd8s. Mine were tweaked to work with column shifting on my 66 barracuda

These headers have been on two motors, the 273 and now the 408. I am happy with the construction and notice some gains from the stock manifolds on the smaller motor. In my case there might not be other options

Either way I am happy

@cudajames can you post up some pics of those DD8's on a 66? Interested to see fitment as you don't hear of these too often on narrow A's.

The first picture is from the 273 with power steering, on the new motor I changed to manual for clearance, Which helps

I would love to find a header with larger primary tubes (the reasoning behind the change to manual steering)

heck yeah, I never thought those would fit. I always thought Sanderson were block hugger type. That driver side design is what I made out of a Hooker race header, huge tubes, ugly welds!

Looks like thy changed them

There are dd9 also , Any hell will ever appreciate. The third tube on driver side hits the top conor of ps box. I have the mount unbolted from frame to move around and can’t get to clear box to get mount back down on frame .

Well I splurged today, and ordered a set of DD9s thru Summit. Mid July Shipping date.
Then the fun will begin.

Well Summit Racing sent me an update on my Sanderson DD9 headers. They are shipping from Sanderson now, the 24th of Aug. I figure a week to get here to Wisconsin, Yippee Kiyay.

At long last here are my new Sanderson headers, # DD9. They arived thusday, a little late. They had my address as in Fargo ND, LOL. Im in Wisconsin, but UPS got them here.
Going to be a while before install, as I am still working on the 360.

For the money they want their website and information blows. I don't even see DD9??? listed on their website.

Having been down the road of Shorty headers I personally don't see the need in going from a Manifold to these. Plenty of other reasons to use them (looks, cleanliness, etc.) but for a purpose of making power the increase doesn't justify the cost IMO. The set of Sanderson's I had on a car in a different once upon a time did fit well and served a purpose however looking back at it they weren't worth the money.

My opinion won't fit everyone's agenda and that's OK however don't expect them to perform anything like a full length header.... But as said they fit and finish were nice. But this was GM and of course they sold more which meant they could tweak the tooling.....

Years ago, a friend of mine put a big block in a 1958 Chevy. The exhaust manifolds wouldn't fit, so he went with Sanderson engine swap headers. They looked like they were made well but their tubes were small-1 1/2". I've always remembered that and usually when I see Sandersons, their tubes are almost always small. My 2 cents worth.

You have to order them thru Summit. If you try to on Sanderson sight, and if you call them, they say discontinued.

I know that they probably don't flow to lots of you guys likings, but they are better than the 273 manifolds.
At my age, pushing 80 yrs old, I dont care any more. I'll be happy to finish this "my last Project". I don't race anymore, so it dosnt matter. It will still be a nice little Early A Bodie with no cut up inner fender wells.
Its just about time to start selling off some of my "JUNK".

guys, Currently have my tired 360LA at a machine shop for a stroker build. Car had an old set of long headers (brand?) when we pulled the motor but they were in pretty rough shape(lots of drag dents) and really crowded the engine compartment and hung low. I am planning to replace them with either a nice set of shorty headers or maybe even just a set of stock manifolds to make my life a lot easier. Based on what I have been reading, I think I am leaning towards either sanderson or doug's shorty style headers. I am looking for something that will fit without having to "fight with/beat them" hardly at all. (Car is a 74 Duster w manual steering/brakes, a power master mini-starter and a 90-deg angle mounted oil filter.) Here are my questions:
1) Sandersons: what's the diff. btwn DD7, DD8, and DD9 varieties? I can find them all on-line w nearly same specs/prices. From my reading on this forum, I believe these should fit my car w/o "complications."
AM I RIGHT?
2) Doug's: should I expect these to fit without fighting with/beating on them? Most comments are favorable on Doug's products but couldn't find any stories about fit in a car like mine.
SHOULD THESE FIT MY CAR WITHOUT COMPLICATIONS?

Also: Shorty versions from Hedman and Patriot have thinner flanges and dump straight down which I think may greatly limit down pipe options/sizes so I was planning to avoid them.

Scott:
Can't answer your question, but I don't think Doug's makes shorty headers. I know there are a couple companies called "Doug's", so maybe I missed one.

This is an eye-opener for me, I made a thread almost 2 years ago about me doing a V8 swap on my dart and I used what I thought was dd9 headers. Those don't look anything like mine, seems to me like a case of mistaken identity and they sent me the wrong ones. I had to use taller motor mounts, grind the edge off of my steering gear box, and introduce my brand new set of headers to a ball peen hammer.

Kursplat,
Regarding TTI's...I think I have been mixing up my "doug's" with my "TTI" research. The pic below is for the TTIs available from Mancini racing as Item #: TTI34025-C0. I have been pessimistically favoring painted headers, as opposed to ceramic coated, primarily because I expect to have to make some"modifications/denting" and banging up a new $200 coating seems like a true shame/waste. HOWEVER, if the good folks on this site can give me some reasonable assurance that the TTI's should fit inside my 74 Duster engine bay w/o requiring mods, I am willing to open my wallet wider and get the pretty set. Should TTIs actually "fit" into my car easily?
All,
Comparing pics of Sandersons in this thread to the TTIs below, I can clearly see that the driver's side of these hugs the block much closer that the Sanderson design... which I would expect should minimize any potential contact with steering box, steering components, starter, etc...

i can get you some more pics of the tti's installed on my 68' in a couple days. i'm manual steering and brakes with a mopar mini starter. type of shifter matters. @Darter6 did the install when it was his car, and used the column shifter, so it needed tti's cross shaft. i've gone to a cable shifter and freed up a lot of room in an otherwise congested location. i can also pull the steering chuck by just dropping the steering and idler arms to lower the center link. i don't think mine are dented anywhere, and i can get the starter in/out no problem. and while a couple of the collector bolts are tight getting to, a shorty end wrench does a good job. passenger side has a stock 90' filter adapter

THX Kursplat,
Would appreciate any pics. (you are running TTIs correct?)
To answer your question about SHIFTER/TRANS: I have a 727 torque flight w a B&M Floor shifter. Car was originally a column shift and I modified the steering column collars to look like a factory floor shift model when I put in the floor shifter. Also,.. removed the linkages/brackets from the engine bay for the column shift as well. I THINK,...I have a pretty good chance of avoiding interference once I get down past the steering box(Also have a Flaming River box which looks a little small that a stock unit to me, though I have never measured them side by side.)
