Stop in for a cup of coffee

Got my customer car Ford Taurus buttoned up today. Tomorrow will be one week that I started on it which isn't bad considering I can't work on cars full time. I can work after my office job only on certain days.

I wish I could work on cars all day, every day......

Came in on a trailer, crank but no start. They also complained the power windows, locks and mirrors didn't work. Car had a ton of little things wrong with it. I really hate to see any car in that shape (except toyotas, which belong in the crusher)

I diagnosed the fuel pump as causing the the no start and I found some broken wires in the door jamb boot.

I really took my time over the weekend on fixing the wiring and cleaning the interior and fixing the small details, a door speaker also had a broken wire, so they all work now.

Yesterday and today, I had the gas tank out which was a nightmare to pull with 3/4 full of gas. I used a transmission Jack with a 2x4 across it to lower the tank. Then I used an old fuel pump from another car to drain the gas into buckets and reinstalled the tank empty so it was easier.

The new fuel pump only came with the little motor so I had to disassemble the fuel pump housing, the plastic with springs, and get everything back together without breaking all the brittle clips.

Was a fun project and I'm learning a lot more about Working with newer cars :p

Thanks @Tooljunkie
