Faster water pump speed increases the flow of coolant. That’s one way to control coolant temp, and if you like to run as much compression on pump gas as I do, that’s a big factor in being able to do it. You can’t run 11:1 on pump gas and have coolant temps of 195 or higher.
I run my junk at 170 and would have done 160 but at that point, on sub freezing days I won’t have much defrost or heat function. So I went with 170.
