Hey everyone I’ve built far more engines than I can count, and did build a 318 when I was a kid, but really know little about these LA motors.
I bought an A100 van recently and after looking for parts for it, found a D150, both with 318’s.
I realize these are not A bodies, but it seems every question I ask online, I find the answer here, so if you all can put up with me, I would like to stay, and say thanks for all the helpful information so far.
The plan is to build a whole new engine for my low mile 88TBI truck, with a turbo. Mild expectations of 400-500hp, then refresh the truck motor and put it into the A100 van.
I will keep my questions to engine and drivetrain, but here is a couple pictures of my projects for everyone to make fun of
Thanks again,
Eric

Welcome! I wound up here over 11 years ago for the same reason. Great bunch of people with a wide range of knowledge. I don't own an A body either :canada:

Thanks to all for a warm welcome! I’m really excited to get going on both of these.
I have a welding business that I am semi retired from, so these will be fabrication heavy builds.
I A: don’t have a lot of money
B: am cheap, so I love to get the most I possibly can out of a dollar, as long as it works as it should, so I make or rebuild or repurpose just about everything.

oh, BTW, I got the truck for $150!
Been sitting for 5 years as a non runner.
I put a battery in it and blew out 1 injector, then drove it home
Pretty happy about that!
I grabbed a good used Edelbrock Performer manifold for $125 and plan to blow through a 750 Holley till I can spring for a Sniper or some such TBI.

No one here in their right mind will fault you for hanging around. We all like the old mopars!!

With a family and lot’s of motorcycles/scooters and a 120 year old farm house, having vans and trucks is a necessity. Does not mean they can’t be fun though

Keeping up my theme of cheap bastard, I grabbed a set of 15x10 wheels For $60 and Pair of near new Cooper Cobra 295/50 15’s for $40!!!
These will give me the look and measurements I need to four link and lower the rear, and I don’t need to feel bad for lighting them up on occasion
I’m torn between polishing and powder coating The wheels. For now I will polish.

Try just an acid wash. Honestly looks really good bleached

If they fit on my lathe, I would just spin them and get a nice scotch brite brushed finish.
I might be able to mount them to my big polisher, but it spins so fast, it would be scary if they were at all out of balance!
Acid wash is sounding easier
