Finding a longer clutch adjustment rod?

So I noticed after putting my car back together and installing the modified z bar in my car that I’m all the way out on the clutch adjustment rod in order to get the pedal to come all the way back up to the top. I had to use the modified z bar because I’m running TTI headers in my 67 383 4 speed dart. Is it possible to that I would benefit from a longer clutch adjustment rod the clutch that is in the car has low miles on it? If I adjust the clutch fork to engage lower down on the adjustment rod I can’t get the pedal to come all the heavy back up. Does this usually mean that there is plenty of life left in the clutch? I reassembled the z bar and clutch linkage as per schematics and it is nice and snug and doesn’t bind anywhere. I was thinking that you want the clutch to normally engage at the top after about 1” of pedal play from the top. The problem is that right now the pedal barely comes all the the way back up and the clutch doesn’t engage until about 3” from the floor. What am I doing wrong?
 
I purchased shock extenders and threaded it onto the original rod. Not sure if I cut it done or not,probably did.
 
Did you buy the modified TTI Z-bar or did you make it yourself?

I modified my own according to the TTI specifications, mine worked fine with the normal clutch rod.

Were the TTI's and the Z-bar the only modification made? Or have you made other changes since the stock clutch rod worked?
 
Be careful adjusting your clutch by free travel alone. The throw out bearing shouldn't touch the pressure plate fingers. I take off the inspection cover and adjust the throw out bearing to pressure plate finger gap. I would guess 1/8- 3/16".

mike is correct here, I can’t remember the written instruction on my recent diaphragm clutch install amount but I do recall it doesn’t have to be as much as they recommend but do make sure it’s not touching. I think they don’t want it to close to ensure you don’t go over center on the diaphragm or fingers if borg and beck.

how long is your adjustment rod. I think a body ones are over 6“ (just going from memory so could be wrong here)

I’m not sure what clutch is in my car because I didn’t order and install it. Maybe the fix isn’t that I need a longer clutch adjustment rod but that I need to install a smaller over center spring? Or possibly remove it all together? Should that allow the pedal to come back up easier? Right now the clutch only engages just above the floor and I’d like it to engage right at the top after a small amount of free play. I can’t go out any further on the adjustment rod. I’m pretty sure the linkage and z bar are installed correct with minimal play.
 
If there’s a diaphragm clutch in it you shouldn’t have an overcenter spring in it at all.

As 72bluNnlu says. NO over center spring with diaphragm.
 
My clutch adjustment rod is now 7 1/2” from eye loop to the end of adjustment rod. I think that is the longest you can buy?
