Bypassing orange ignition box ?

Since you apparently have a small-block V-8, buy a ready-to-run HEI distributor on ebay from Skip White Performance and others. I paid $45, plus another $20 for an e-core coil. If you want to be more Mopar, use the coil from a 1980-90's Magnum engine in the junkyard. Your OE coil can't handle HEI. Why go back to points? If you did, you would need a points distributor, which will likely cost more, plus the correct ballast resistor and modify your wiring harness to match.
