Not at all. With the carb bolted down use a pry bar and “pop” the rod straight out- about a 1/4” to release the socket type retainer. End of the rod has a groove that snaps into the rubber type bushing you see. Once that pops you can remove the carb. I’ve damaged a carb thinking I could just slide the carb off the shaft before. How? Don’t ask. Okay, I pry’ed the carb so hard the stud the carb sits on Well it gouged the mounting surface. Look I was like 16. Stop laughing.
