sorry guys I know I already asked this but I can't find the post, anyways 8.75 with BBP axles green bearings, I'm running a suregrip cone style with the thrust pin still in it, how much was I suppose to shave off the axles ends I keep thinking 0.100 but want to be sure. Also all I need is a bench grinder right?

Do I even have thrust buttons in it?

No thrust block or Thread spool seen in your pics.

Dana 4 spider Clutch type used the 3 piece thread type spool. Later 489 case centers with cones used the larger block.

I see neither in your pic!

To me your pic looks like The Dana, based on the cross shaft. Either way if you go green type bearings you should be fine!

May be an optical illusion but the splines look like they are not in total alignment as well.

Thrust pin was to "join" the axles so you only had to adjust one side - no adjustment on green bearings means no thrust pin. It could even keep the green bearings from seating properly.

Won't they wiggle into position when the axle is inserted?

Have fought that before. The answer is no, IMO. Always stuck axles in during bench Assembly after opening the center up to keep alignment in the splines. Don’t split the center and no issue!

like kim said if you have the new style green bearings it does not matter .

Badnews ,so me and my brother installed the suregrip 741 case the car started to make a howling noise, when i would let go of the clutch the car would not die it would just howl and go no where? any ideas? so bummed out.

Update so i talked my buddy who owned the car, he said the axles are CBODY axle that were shortened i believe that is where my problem lies, axles are too short and do no engage the second row of splines in the SG Carrier. So im going to pull the axles and measure and see , maybe need to get some early B Body axles or something
