My '65 Barracuda is apart, and I've been concerned about this problem too. 20 years ago I had gas leak onto the quarter panel of a freshly painted car damaging the finish, don't want to go through that again. Just took the filler tube assembly from the '65 off the shelf, tried to blow through the vent tube and couldn't! It was plugged and I didn't even realize it, blew compressed air through it and some dirt and fine rust particles came out. Before I install it I'm going to run a speedometer cable though it to really clean it out. Wheelsport, thanks for bringing this up!
