Help FABO 1969 Barracuda 318 What's it Worth
First of all, my condolences!
Finding the right price here is a bit complicated - you mentioned the car has to go. So I assume time to find the right buyer will play a role.
Looks like it has been partially repainted, but if all the panels are original, no patches, no previous accidents, no bondo under the paint, and interior in excellent shape, I would go way higher.
A buddy of mine and I are looking for a real survivor and I can tell there is not much out there. 318, 340, or BB - no matter, finding an unmolested Barracuda FB in excellent condition is not easy. For example, I insured my car for + $35000 (318, original paint) and no questions were asked.
In my opinion, online classic car evaluations are just numbers that do not always represent reality. Offering and demand determine the price.
Even with $30000 or more cash in your pocket - good luck finding a 50-year-old Barracuda FB survivor!
The same goes for parts, with plenty of time and cash in your pocket - good luck finding a rust-free hood, trunk lid, fenders, or front panel.
Those cars and parts are not getting more.
Also, look outside the borders of the USA, Abodies in the States may have been ridiculed and often mistreated, but in Europe or elsewhere in the world those cars might get more appreciation. Everybody can do with their cars whatever they want, but those guys who welded half oil barrels over the rear axles might one day regret having destroyed a piece of American Car History.
A good car, with a properly written sale ad (extensive description of the car and a lot of detailed pictures), can and will attract buyers, also outside the US.
I also think of the price development of Mustang FBs in the last years, and they have been produced in higher numbers.
My best,
Wolfgang
