I have a 70 Duster that had manual drum brakes and a master with a bolt to hold the top on. I have been converting to 73 up disk setup. Car came with rotors and knuckles. Been ordering everything else. The Master I ordered was for a 73 up manual disk Duster. It has a clamp style top and no pushrod. The original 70 pushrod is stuck to the Guts of the original master after I unbolted the dust boot flange.
My question, Is there a difference in pushrods between 70 and 73?. Was there a manual disk offered in 70 so I can order the correct Master to work with the 73up stuff?

Theres a rubber o ring that holds the pushrod in...clamp the master in a vice, stick a large solid thru object of your choice thru the bolt hole and jerk back firmly...best to replace the o ring

If you’re going to manual on the new set up you can use your existing one. Put the old one in a vice and leverage/pull/yank the old rod out. It will come.
Yes there is a difference in manual disc and manual drum masters.
Make sure you have the 73’ and up disc proportioning valve..

put the rod in a vise and give the master a hit with a lead or leather hammer. Or you could heat the insd of the hole for the rod up a very little to soften the rubber ring that holds it in. This is the piece that holds it in . all the rods are the same for 67-76

Buy the rod fastener here

do not use a piece of rubber hose the push rod can come out and you will lose your brakes. Seen it happen. That bushing above goes in the master and then the rod with a little Dawn dishwashing liquid makes it go in easy, do not use anything else. Also your new master may not have the holes for the boot holder . You will need one of these. This goes on before the rod.

Yes I have the correct prop valve, looking at its design.

I saved them from cars I strip. Try Jims brake parts . His prices are high but there are other venders if you look. I always search Ebay or Amazon for the best deals. The plastic holder Good luck I haven't found them yet.,

Most people restored muscle cars don’t really see a lot of use and also don’t see dust and dirt anymore so if you can fiNd one just don’t use one and don’t stress out about it either.

I use them because I have them. Otherwise I wouldn't worry about it. But the neoprene rubber for the rod. Whenever you pull the rod it is important you get a new one There are guys that sell hose cut off. I fell for them at carlisle. They were in a bag $1 each. What a joke

They say the manual brake rods are the same from 67-76. I just swapped my 69 barracuda from front drum to disc and could not get a good pedal. Thought it was air in the lines, but after ALOT of bleeding figured it had to be the master cylinder. Got a 2nd new master cylinder and same issue. I ended up comparing the brake rod from my 69 barracuda to my factory front disc 75 duster and it was 1/8" shorter. I ended up buying an adjustable rod and and adjusted it to the length of my duster rod and now I have a great pedal. I went with
