Way too nice to be crushed! Save this Duster (Washington state)
It's replies like this one that you're on my ignore list.
I am sure he messaged you about help with what wheels would fit his car because he respects your opinion and he, like I and everyone else knows you have vast knowledge in this area. How DARE you call him out about a message sent in private! You should be ashamed for acting like an *** toward someone who privately chose YOU for help.
Also, how DARE you say something like that to our lovely lady member. This just further proves your holier than thou "think like I do or else" attitude.
Some people actually like running factory size wheels and tires. Screw you and the horse you rode in on for trying to cram your opinion down everyone's throat and act like it's the only opinion that's right. It's not.
Now I'm back to ignoring you. Prick.
Ignore away Rob, doesn't hurt my feelings at all. My attitude and conduct is no worse than anyone else's here, you yourself step out all the time to make fun of people that run larger diameter wheels. How is that not "think like I do or else"? You're far more guilty than I am on that account. I've said it to you before, I will say it every time you come after me on this- Don't make me quote all the BS you've said about other people's builds. You're the pot calling the kettle black on this one and there are hundreds of posts to prove it.
diymirage has said far worse things about me and others right in public and no doubt worse than that in private. If he thinks that a set of wheels he doesn't like means the PO "ruined his car beyond being salvageable" he shouldn't be surprised when I point out that people that can't buy a set of wheels that fit properly themselves probably shouldn't be throwing stones.
And I'm normally 100% on board with respect to our "lovely lady member". But Rob, she literally said "trying to make it into a
modern abortion with wheels like that". A MODERN ABORTION. Sorry bud, but that's an ignorant comment no matter who made it. And like I said, it doesn't suit her very well or match up with her usual conduct. So yeah, I called it out and no, I don't feel bad about it and ignoring me doesn't change that at all.
Because I understand your poor taste doesn't negate your understanding of the subject matter
Doesn't square up with your comments though does it? If everyone that runs larger wheels has "ruined their car beyond salvageable" then why are you asking for my advice? If you respect my understanding then why wouldn't you assume I know enough not to "ruin" my car?
I could just as easily say that anyone that can't figure out how to buy wheels that actually fit inside the wheel wells of their cars has probably ruined their car beyond salvageable, because what could they possibly know? And you'd probably take offense to that right? Because it's not accurate. Just like your comments weren't.
I most certainly didn't mean to upset you because if you look closer at what I posted, it wasn't an attack on you or your taste.
I stated my opinion for when I'm buying a car. To judge someone's car that is at a show is one thing. But when you are going to put your money on it is another thing.
I do pass on modified cars because I'm not going to put my money on someone else's dream and work. I prefer a car that has more naturally aged.
I stated it in context to the car in the OP because I would part it or pass.
Maybe I should have kept it to myself, I'm not above that thought.
However, I didn't post that with the intent to piss off 72blunblu
Like I said, I normally respect your opinion and really value your presence here. But if you're going to start calling cars "modern abortions" just because you have a different opinion on the style of wheels they run then that's going to change. This isn't even a
wheel thread, it's a thread trying to draw attention to another A-body that someone could put back on the road. And you're bashing it?
Some of the highest quality builds on this site are "modern abortions" by that standard. There are far higher quality modified cars on here than OE restorations. I mean come, on 76orangewagon's Duster? Best build on this entire site, hands down the highest quality of ALL of them, style aside. Don't think I'd worry about the wiring on this one...
And I don't care. Say ignorant stuff and I will call you out. Piss me off? Whatever. I find it far more irritating that all the members on this site making ignorant comments like yours are discouraging other people from taking up the hobby. If the only people that get into these cars are the ones that enjoy (and can afford!) OE restorations then really soon the only place you'll find these car is in museums, not out on the roads. If you go after someone because they ran a set of 17" rims so they can buy decent, SAFE tires for a daily driver then that's what happens.
