If you order this shock, you'll get the wrong one. The bottom mount is a blade, not a hole. The picture is wrong, but I thought the part would be right. Nope.

I never had to return anything to Rockauto before. You can't get a person. You just answer a million questions aimed at them trying to tell you that you were wrong.

At the end, I only got two choices, refund or ship another. I emailed them saying that I still wanted them, but that they would ship me the same wrong part. I only got a computer reply saying to fill out the million question thing.

Oh well, I guess I'll buy shocks somewhere else.

Well, that's good to know.. kinda.
Not being able to at least get to someone with a heartbeat is a problem.

I've had the same issue with RockAuto. Absolutely can't get a live person to talk to about a problem with a part. I HATE that and its enough to make me spend my money elsewhere.

I TRY to buy as much as possible in person and over the counter. Unless the price is just WAY too high, then I usually go to eBay.

Had the same issue...they are right the customer is wrong.

I drive within a couple blocks of RA when I deliver to Madison. Always wanted to stop by and talk to a computer.

Honestly I have had no issues with rock auto ever, I have more issues with walking in a auto parts stores trying to finds parts through a jackass Honda idiot.

What are those shocks for a jeep wrangler? Not for a abody not even close.

I've never had an issue before in several years of buying from them, either. My guess is that it's run by a minimal amount of people.

Does it seem like a big place? Do they even stock anything? Almost seems like they drop ship everything and just a few people running the show.

Beats me.

I despise Rock Auto. not only do they rape you on shipping, their customer service is virtually non existent. they screwed me on my first order from them and that's all it took.

That’s because your old, and we grew up walking into a parts store and dealing with someone face to face, the way it should be.

The issue is even though you’ve been on both sides of the counter it’s hard to get the 30ish and under crowd to do anything but use keystrokes.

I hate doing that.

Other than easier returns or sometimes on the shelf, there is not much advantage to the face to face anymore. Now we go to the store and are face to face with a 30ish person hitting keystrokes for us. :BangHead: Lol I often order ahead online and pick up at the store.

I also never had a problem with them. And then I did. I spent two hours trying to find a phone number on their site. There isn't one. It's all computer run. When I tried to send $80 dollars worth of the wrong brake drums back it would have cost me $48 in shipping to do it their way, so I kept em. Now if I have any question whatsoever about getting the right part I'll buy it somewhere else. All that experience did was raise my blood pressure!

I have gotten some good deals And no problems through RA, but was pretty certain of what I was ordering.

Yup judging on the photo I can tell you that is not a body b body c body e body shock that's something way different. Gotta know what your looking for to get the right parts.

I look up the part number on Rock Auto, try to verify it if possible and then order from Amazon.

Problem with sending the wrong part? No big deal... Put it back in the envelope and send it back.

I ordered a Power Master alternator once from Amazon and it had a bad bearing. I went by the paperwork that said I had to call Power Master etc.. I tried that once, and they (Power Master) wouldn't give me the time of day... So, I said "screw this" and just shipped it back to Amazon. Got my money back.

Just did the very same thing yesterday for a fuel pump I need for my '53 Dodge.

Amazon = free 2 day shipping
Rock Auto = NOT EVEN CLOSE

Amazon = easy returns
Rock Auto = HA HA HA!! You want WHAT??

I only buy stuff from Rock auto that I am absolutely sure I won’t need to send back. Good deals most of the time, but if I can do amazon, that’s what I do.

I shop NAPA, RockAuto, Autozone, compare prices (including shipping), warranty and decide from there..
I did have an issue with a speedometer cable that I purchased from RA, it had the wrong sized tranny connector and was about a foot and a half too long.
It was only like 11.00 so it was not about the money, the fact is their online catalog was wrong.
I called the RA phone number and left a message with the non available receptionist with a return phone number
About 15 minutes later I got a call back, I explained to the person that the part part absolutely did not fit even though the RA online catalog clearly ststes that it does. The RA person gave me an e mail address and asked for supporting evidence that they can take to their supplier. I took a few photos showing the difference between the OE part and the RA part a picture from my FSM showing the connection and sent that to RA.
A few days later I got an email saying that the part price, shipping and tax will be refunded and I did not need to return the part that RA has sent me and that RA would correct the online catalog.
Since that time I did get a full refund credit on my charge card statement, I have also checked the RA on line listing and that particular speedo cable is no longer shown as fitting my 68 Barracuda.
Through the whole episode I tried to be factual, kept my cool and explained to them that I was as interested in helping them get their online catalog right so other potential customers do not get the wrong part as I was in getting my money refunded

here is a link to that FABO discussion

Sounds good in theory, but that number won't get anyone anywhere. They do not offer customer service over the phone - best you can do is reach a receptionist mon-fri who will simply tell you how to use their website to try to answer your questions. Those hours are very wrong as well.

I said in my first post that I knew the picture was wrong, but I figured the part would be right. It's common on the web to see a pic that's not accurate.

I've ordered from them for years without a problem. I've learned the hard way to only when I'm positive, as others have said.
