Mopar experts, I'm a relative newbie, just acquiring a 1974 Plymouth Valiant with a 318 last year.

I would love to upgrade my carb to a Holley 4-barrel.

Any suggestions???

The car is completely stock at this point.

Do you have dual exhaust? Headers? What intake??? Engine stock?? A lot of info left out for me to be specific. Any Holley from 600-750 for your liking I guess. 750 3310 is a good one, and so is a 670 Street Avenger. Look at Quick Fuel Brawlers also.....

I have a dual exhaust. Just put in. No headers. I was thinking Holley 650, 4160? Newbie.

Yes, stock engine. Totally original. 43K

I was thinking Edelbrock peformer. I was hoping to land under $500 for the upgrade....but that seems unlikely.
2nd hand performer or Weiand Action plus can be had in great shape for 125 bucks. Look for a nice 2nd hand Holley, bet you only pay 100 for the 4160 in great shape.

I would say a good old tried and true Holley 1850. Be just right.

Stick with something around 600 cfm. The old factory Holleys are all 580 or 600 cfm, and as long as you have the right gaskets they work well with a rebuild.
