Can you use a tuning kit for the Edelbrock AVS in an original 70 Carter AVS?

Edelbrock makes the Thunder series AVS now as well as a rod and jet kit for it. Will anything from the new kit work in an original 70 AVS? I'd like to do a little fine tuning. They're pretty proud of the original strip kits on E-bay. Thanks.

I have used the Carter Strip Kit in the Edelbrock carbs but the little numbers they stamp on them are not the same. I used numbered drill bits to make sure what size they are and set them to the side while tuning. Also not all of the rods are the same length and some have a lot of differences in the steps so look close at them when changing. So I would think it could be done the other way around as well.

Before you do anything make sure your carb is clean and all the adjustments are good. All those rod are two step rods, and the jets are 2 step also. You would need to change jets, rods, pistons, and covers to use them. Then you loose the finer 3 step fuel curve. Might be better to drill a spare set of primary jets if you need something richer. Or sand a spare set of rods.

Thanks 66. Yes carb is clean and I did go over the adjustment specs. Good idea on drilling a spare set of jets. I might try that.
