Sure sounds like it. As for the bare block, there are no differences that would stop you from using it. The crankshaft is an entirely different animal.
Yep the real seal surface face will have the director grooves going the other way..and that has been blamed for rear main leaks when used in standard rotation.
 
One more throw-away item in the RR engine, pic is from a 64 426W right hand and a regular drive.

I noticed in your 340 pic you are using a fuel filter with return. Are you using the existing fuel vapor line back to the gas tank? The one that went to the black carbon vapor canister? I want to run a return filter just not sure how to install return in my 1975 dart sport 360.
 
Easy run a line and a regulator with three ports and put it in the vent/return line, but make sure you have a vented gas cap. My 440 dart is set up with that with a HF electronic pump, no issues YET!
