I was born in 1966 what a fantastic year, the good era of big engines which I am very much in love with. I've been working with engines for 36 years and now in recent years the world has changed so much. I breathe morning engines in the evening, and now my profession may disappear, and that really scares me.
as you knew i was born in brazil and for 23 years i have been living in belgium.
Here the car with heat engine has become the big "bad wolf".
In Brussels, it becomes more difficult every day to get around by car.
we want to ban lawn mowers with heat engines.
prohibit cars in the city center ...
that makes too many changes for a passionate person like me.
I'm afraid of the future

Yup. Internal combustion has been the "bad guy" for a while now. It's only a matter of time. Might not happen in our lifetime, but it's coming.

Look into electric conversions of classics....could be lucrative. I would not mind driving an electric '65 Barracuda with a 200W amp pumping Ronnie Sox running through the 4 gears. I'd jump at the chance to ban stinking loud 2 stroke leaf blowers and edgers here, but since a protected class of workers use them predominately, it won't happen because it will impact 1 group more than others. That's how we roll here, heck that's just like hospital bills or having car insurance or registration! Some have it and are forced to pay it, others are shown financial pity and get a F'n pass.

Early A bodies with manual transmissions are the perfect candidate.

They're also a perfect candidate for a big block.

I made a post on this board awhile back. Your govt's over there want to ban about everything, and yet you have those magnificent huge Scania diesels

Born in December of '66 myself, I doubt it'll happen in my lifetime. ...

Jeff

How many lights can you put on a Scania? One more.....Are those kinda rare or something over there?

this week the Belgian parliament will try to introduce a new law to oblige to drive at 30Km / h in all cities.
I really think politicians go too fast.

we still have "peak alerts" in the summer when everyone is having their A/C on. Now power up everyone's electric car...... yeah.

Other than causing a more massive traffic jam, what is the "reasoning" behind this?

That is my argument. Electric cars aren't green because there is no true energy source. And there is a LOT of waste from discarded "recycled" batteries..............

if it's getting really too complicated to own a vintage car here in Belgium because of the new anti-pollution laws.
I already think about the subject:
I keep my car in the garage, no question of fitting an electric motor on this car.
sell it to an American, so it goes back to its country of origin.
I think your country will still have a few good years to go with a heat engine.

for the political class, the objective is to force people to come to town: on foot, by bike, public transport (not enough), by train (always late).
I feel that people are sometimes hostile to old cars, ...

This is obvious. I am not against pollution reduction measures.
but we cannot want to make extremely rigid laws, and want to change too much too quickly.
