No service hydraulic lifter

How are hydraulic rollers ( retro link bar) supposed to be serviced with rivet in the way of the parts coming out?
Had three collapse yesterday . I found three lifters with bent “C” clips.
The only way into lifter is to remove rivet.
Ya ya I know. Hydraulic lifter bad, but they are in my engine.
