73 Dart 318. I just received a engine electrical harness. This picture is of driver side fender. I can see that the red and yellow wires pictured need to attach to starter relay on side of fender. There is a black wire with an unrecognizable L shape boot connector that runs beyond the red and yellow wire on the new harness ? Where in the heck does this wire go ? And I can’t see to eliminate the old harness because it’s intertwined to the headlight harness here. What do I need to do here ? 2nd picture is same location. Aim holding old harness that has that red/yellow wire and I can’t see how to eliminate it when the horn wire and headlight wires are intertwined ?

Ha ha, How do I eliminate the old harness when that very end it ties into the horns and driver side headlight ?
I found the brake valve connection just now

Go to MyMopar. Download the 73 service manual. It's free and it's there because of the efforts of some of the guys right on here. Go to the A bodies diagrams, then keep going PAST the diagrams, and there are charts back there for the engine bay and interior that shows what connectors look like, approximately where they exist physically, and the wire gauge, number and color(s) and their function

Thank you, I’m getting it. I’m learning that you have to unwrap the original harness as the lighting harness is tied into the old engine harness. It’s not plug in play. Takes a lot of time actually. Dealing with old electrical tape. Rerapping, etc. Pain in the *** if you want it to look good.

I've used M&H exclusively and everything is always exactly like the old one (minus 50 years of deterioration!), but I think they sell exclusively through Year one.

I purchased mine through Classic Industries..I purchased the under dash..under hood..under hood forward for headlights..turn signals..horns etc..and the rear harness for taillights etc...Only thing I forgot was for the wiper motor..It comes separately...M&H are a little pricey but are definitely a top notch well built harness that exacts the original equipment..You can double check me on them being sold by Classic Industries but I'm almost positive that's where I bought the harnesses..Ive ordered so many parts that I can't always remember everything but I'm quite sure it come from Classic Industries..1971 Dodge Dart Parts | MA2318 | 1971 Mopar A-Body Under-Dash Wire Harness | Classic Industries

I think you may find you ordered the wrong harness.
There are some with/without horn harness, depending on your particular vehicle.

My harness for my 71 Demon came with the attachments for the horn..It is built into the underhood forward harness..

Never mind. I’m figuring it out. Plug in play. Yeah right, plug in play in my ***.
I installed mine with all of the factory harnesses ripped out of the car..I installed the under dash harness with the dash out of the car and all factory wiring removed from it..I laid the new harness in place and it was fairly simple to see where it all plugged up..The dash is a rallye cluster dash..Same thing with under the hood and the under hood forward harnesses..I just plugged it in to the firewall block and routed everything..Im going to have to extend a couple of wires as my 71 Demon is a 340 car and I installed a 440 in it and a couple of wires are a bit short..I am using a M&H harness..I don't know if there is any differences between the Evans and the M&H but the M&H went in fairly easy..The one thing about the M&H is price as I spent around 600 dollars just for the under dash harness..Ive never priced the Evans..But just keep chipping away at it..Youll get it figured out.
