Whats the best way to lift a slant without the head on and not damage anything?Just trying to get the short block back on the stand

I threaded some spare bolts - not the head bolts - into the head, one in the rearmost hole passenger side, the other in the forwardmost hole on the driver side. If you bolt the rotating part of the stand in place as a separate piece (loose from the base) it doesn't matter if it's not perfectly balanced. Once that's bolted up to the block, put the rest of the fixture on and lower away.

Get some bolts same size as head bolts or even use old heat bolts. Get some BIG flat washers and put them right down on the head, then the chain, then another washer, so the chain does not gouge up the machined deck surface

Thanks guys i was worried about using the head bolt holes because i didnt want to scratch the deck. Ill get some washers and pretty sure i have an old mud flap laying around i could use between the deck and washer.

If your going to buy some washers, maybe look to get some eye bolts the size of the head bolts and run them in. Not sure off hand what the thread size is but an eyebolt would be easy to attach a sling to and then hoist away.
