so I'm in the middle of installing me 5.7 in my 66 valiant "early A body". does anyone know should the center of the crank be centered between the frame rails. it seems to be in a happy spot slightly off to the passenger side.
 
Aren't they all set a little to the passenger side? Hence less clearance on the right side inner fender on all V8s in our A Bodies.
 
Typically the early a- small blocks were off set to the passenger side due to the steering box.
 
The engines are offset to accommodate the steering box and column.
 
People were fatter back in the day so they moved the engine over to the passenger's side to compensate for the extra weight on the driver's side.:rofl::mad::poke:
 
use the C/L of the tunnel to the pinyon, that should get you close
 
ok made good progress today got the motor in and almost ready to fab mounts. what would you guys think would be a good downward angle.
