On this day, three days before my birthday I got myself an early present. A mostly gone through mechanically, mostly gone through electrically, ratty 74 scamp. Factory 318 car with a swapped in 727 and 8.25 rear with an as of yet unknown gear ratio and obviously no sure grip. She’s fun. Been gleaning ideas off of this forum for a long time and will continue to use them as I make this turd ( hopefully ) something awesome. Suggestions welcome.

Welcome to the forum..
Nice car...
My suggestion is to just drive it for a while and it will talk to ya...
It will ask for something soon though...

I find that you’re correct. Every vehicle I’ve ever owned has more than enough personality to tell me what’s on its mind haha.

What are your wishes for the car as far as performance driveability and so forth? Daily driver? Take it to the Race track? A little of both...

So far. It’s about realism. Will it go to the track. Yeah sure maybe once or twice in it’s life or so to see what it can do or maybe after a major change to see how it shakes out. Mostly it’s gonna be a street killer. Blaze tires at will because why wouldn’t you. And be something to scare of the Seattle native WRX with.

Music to my ears...

Welcome !! Very cool, solid looking car! My brothers first car was a 74 scamp and that's what got me hooked on mopars at the age of 13. Seeing yours has brought back really good memories! Have fun and enjoy!!!

Thanks very much! Drove her to work today. I’m a machinist and the shop gathered around like something came through a time machine.
Tell you what loving it so far. Putting it on the floor on the freeway and the thing just lifting the nose and rumbling off makes me literally laugh and smile out loud.

Welcome from Texas. that's nice looking start, Leave the patina & primer on it. It makes it look like a real sleeper.

That’s the plan I kinda like it ratty. Might get it all one color of primer but if it don’t have a 7000 dollar paint job on it I won’t cry my eyes out if it gets a rock chip!

Welcome to the madness we call FABO!!!

Drive the azz out of it, have fun, bring back memories for those who see...and hear... you drive by!!

I intend to do my damndest! Return trip from work today signaled some pretty good vibration through the wheel at highway speeds. Thinkin it’s time to refresh the front end and rebuild the brakes all the way around. A few bucks in general maintenance and upkeep and well be flying again

That's a nice find, and the perfect candidate for a sleeper! Looks like it has good bones. Keep us updated!

Oh, and welcome from a sort-of-a-neighbor!

Thanks much! So far it does have a good base.
Stock 318 block .030 over stock rods and crank
KB 197 ( I think ) high compression pistons
Mopar purple cam
318 ported and polished heads with 360 valves
Weiand action plus intake
Holley 4150 600 cfm carb
727 and 8.25 out back.

big things to start are front end brakes and gears. It’s got like a 2.xx:1 out back and is suffering for it. Sure grip wouldn’t suck either
