Spotted a 71 swinger under a carport while at work and had to go ask the guy if he would sell it. He bought it a year ago and lost interest so he said he'd sell it to me. He said 1200 bucks and I shook his hand. /6 car all original I'm excited to tune it up and use it as my daily driver. Maybe do a v8 swap later. It's a little rough but it adds character. He threw in a set of small block hooked headers as well!

is it a dart "special"? many years ago, I had arranged to buy a super clean dart special, which looked very much like that, in Lake Forest Park. Whoever the driver was must have been super short, because it had 4x4 wood blocks on the pedals! Anyway, when I came back the next day to pay for the car and pick it up, it was gone. I can't remember why she sold it to someone else, this was about 35-40 yrs ago.

Nice find.Good for you on being alert. They are out there. You just can't be lazy to look or affraid too stop and ask. I like going out for rides on my motorcycle and looking. Easy to get in places and get a good look around. Pull up and look in windows or cracks of old buildings where no one resides. Its like a treasure hunt. I find a lot more then old cars. LOL

What would the differences be on a Dart "Special"?

Looks good! Looks to be sitting down on the right front, hope you don't have the dreaded rusty torsion bar cross member.

you know, until I saw that dart, I had no idea there was such a model. I'm pretty sure I've never seen another one. I wish I had taken a picture. I remember it had a block lettering chrome "SPECIAL" on both sides. I can't remember exactly where it was attached. I'm thinking both quarter panels, or maybe C-pillars. I used to drive by the house fairly frequently, and it had not moved from where it was parked in front of the garage for some time.

That's my favorite year Dart. Looks good, too.

Mine also, Would trade the Challenger for the right 71 Dart. Would love to have it green, but the darker green with a black tail stripe, 340 or 360 and it needs to be a 4 speed.

Lake forest park is in Seattle right? I picked this car up in vancouver (wa) and the guy said he bought it from an old lady but that was just a year ago. There are no special badges on the fenders but I could swear I saw one on the dash. I'd go check but I parked it at my brother's barn I'll have to check on that next time im there.

Oh I know I'm always looking I work for the local utility so I'm always driving around the county seeing new neighborhoods. I keep my head on a swivel it's totally like a treasure hunt. That's actually the reason I bought a tilt deck car trailer as well lol, Just so I can pick up those non running treasures!

Yes good eye it is sitting down on the right front, someone hit something directly on the passenger lower control arm and it looks a little bent. I picked up a new control arm but I haven't investigated it very thoroughly yet! The only rust I could find was the trunk pan and bottom of the rear quarters. Frame rails and floor pans and everything else is solid! Id love to put it in my garage and tear into it but my cuda is taking it up. I need a shop bad!

I was wrong it wasn't a "special" badge I saw on the dash it was a "custom" badge. Im not even sure what makes it a "custom"?

you got a steal of a deal on that car . there is none left around here . the liberals crushed everything around here in the late 70's early 80's . a few were hid here and there but they are gone now also .

Yeah, that the original steering wheel. Called a rim blow. Has the horn button on the end of one of spokes next to the outer rim. Cool car

there was a cherry 70 /6 in my area but the guy wanted 9 grand. same color. not in much better shape goes to show how prices are all over the board.

what rear does it have. Seen quite a few of these cars with 8.75's under them.
