I have been looking for a set of four (or better yet five) of the Mopar factory steel wheels that are the 14X5 1/2 J wheels that came on the performance a-body cars. 5 lugs on 4 inch spacing. Hope to connect with someone local (Pacific Northwest, USA) but willing to work with a member who has a proven track record. (I have been burned twice now by individuals who sent the wrong size or sent wheels damaged beyond repair claiming to be in good condition)
I m near Seattle. Willing to pay a fair price for decent wheels. Let me know if you have a set you are looking to pass on. I appreciate it. -Aaron

Um... thanks Dana67Dart for your reply.
Unfortunately lol- the last 5 1/2 set listed on the fabo classified ads was bought by me... but found out the hard way (after buying) that they are not the 5 1/2 wheels. They were advertised as 5 1/2 but are the 4 1/2 instead.

I have a set of 4 (3 made in USA, 1 made in Canada). I'm in metro-Detroit (48044). The wheels are in fact 14" X 5 1/2" small bolt pattern (5 on 4") STEEL wheels. I purchased them last year hoping to use them on my Dart GT (with the red line dog dish hub caps), but the wheels do not clear my SSBC front disc brakes. I've got $300 invested in them and would like to break even. Thoughts?

Thanks for the multiple members who have reached out.

The photos of the size and mfg country is definitely good to see since I have been burned with the 4 1/2 wheels before.

I would ask as well for pictures of the front and backs please to see the surface condition. Also include the amount you want for them. For out of area shipping estimate would be useful once the price and condition are shown.

I have a set of 5 from the same 69 Swinger that I sold last fall. I'm located in KY and shipping would be expensive.

tleroy- Thanks for the photos.

Are you sure they are the factory 14x5 1/2 wheels not the 14x4 1/2? Thought the swinger came with 4 1/2 unless it was a 340...

You say four are now black- was that a rattle spray can to get them black?

How much do you want for the five?

All V8 cars came with 14x5.5 wheels. Depending on the level of your restoration, you may want to blast and paint them. The fronts are nice and not pitted, but the backsides are scaly. Here they are black

I have run into this problem before. (I bought a set of 4 1/2 wheels from a fabo member who said they were 5 1/2...) Problem is establishing if a wheel is a 5 1/2 or a 4 1/2... My understanding is that the 4 1/2 were standard including on V8 cars. I am pretty sure not all V8 cars came with the 5 1/2 wheels. My guess is you may have the 4 1/2 wheels. The 5 1/2 wheels came on performance cars like the Swinger 340, GTS, and Formula S cars A body cars in 68-69.

I know what I have. You can also tell by the offset of the wheel if you know what you are looking at. Look at the lip of the 4 1/2 wheel that you have and look at mine. Mine have a deeper offset.

tleroy- No offense but I am not just taking someones word for it. Reason is covered above.

I am not able to eyeball the photos of your wheels mounted on a car and determine the offset. The visual difference in offset for each side is only on the order of a half inch or so... could if you put a measuring tape up against your wheel showing the offset

but it's all a moot point anyways if you want more than I am wiling to pay and I have yet to hear your answer as to what you want for them.

So, to approach this logically let's cross that bridge first... Then we can determine backspacing via a photo using a tape measure or some other objective method.

I will take some pictures of the 5 that I have. I blasted two of them and they came out pretty good, the other two I have not touched. The fifth one is rough.
Will post tomorrow. Located in NorCal. $ 100 plus the ride. Came off a 1969 GTS

One look at the front of that spare clearly shows that the center is in about an inch from the inner rim, clearly a 5 1/2” rim, I’m sure the other 4 are as well.

Bad guess.
He has 5-1/2" small bolt wheels.
Its clear if you look at the area where the wheel hoop and wheel center come together.
There is an easily visible lip on the 5-1/2" that isnt there on a 4-1/2".
Tape measure isnt required.
Its 50 years post mfg. so what they are on now doesnt really matter.

I don't know everything, but I know my steel wheels. That's all that I run on all of my cars. Steel wheels, Dog Dish Caps and Redline Bias Ply Tires:)

What is the width of the wheels in entry #21?
Do you have a picture of the wheels at the angle as the pictures that I sent to you. If I can see from an angle and not straight on, I'll tell you what they are. Thanks,

....I am asking what is the width of the wheels in entry #21?
...and is the one on the left the same width as the one on the right?....
any experts that think it is obvious from simply looking at a photo want to chime in?
