while waiting for 1 of my cars to get out of paint, and being bored from covid, i found a deal on a complete 273 engine and complete front suspension k frame drum to drum with 10" drums.

My 64 I want to swap into is a slant 6 4 speed, the donor parts are from a 67 barracuda.

I do already have a 273 steel bellhousing and flywheel

I know I can't use the K frame, what suspension pics from the 67 can or should i use, pretty sure I have to find and early drag link, and if everything else will swap over, then I can just rebuild the 67 suspension and swap it all in.

Is the 67 V8 K frame worth anything?

The steering linkage is different too. You definitely will need the proper '64-6 A-body V8 drag link, motor mount brackets, and LH exhaust manifold. Also, from your photo, it looks like your engine is hooked to an automatic. It's likely that the crankshaft is not finish machined for a pilot bushing. Either the crank will have to be machined to the proper diameter to accept a stock bushing, or a bushing would have to be made to fit the crank. You may also need the correct brackets and kickdown linkage for the early cars. Not sure if there's enough clearance for those or not. I would also recommend a higher capacity radiator and fan.

No kickdown if he uses the 4 speed.

Anyone have the the OD measurement of the pilot bushing?

CRAB NABIT! I have a rebuilt 273 sitting on my engine stand that is rebuilt for my 64 that is in Paint. There is definitely a deeper drilled hole in the crank than the one i just picked up!

OD of pilot bushing is .940. The upper and lower control arms are usable on your '64. There are differences in the lower control arm mounting studs over the years so I'd measure and compare before just using. In addition to the center link you won't be able to use the pitman arm (at steering box) or idler arm on opposite side. While they may attach to your steering box and "K" member respectively, they have a different shape and will likely place the correct center link in an incorrect position if they even mate to it.

I thought the 66 K frames were the same for the slant and V8. The motor mounts are different.

64-66 is the same, 67 has the 1 year steering linkage. Sell that! I believe the roller pilot bearing is still available for the unmachined cranks. Im not sure if the 67 K is unique to the 68 and on but its worth putting up for sale as the steering box mounts can crack if your tie rod ends are junk. You may be able to get away with that 67 manifold in a 64, but youll have to get a head pipe made to fit the 100 degree bend that the 64 LA manifold does not have.

Roller pilot bearing doesn't fit 273 cranks.
