My Dart Swinger Project!

More good new! (Sarcasm)
My machinist called me this morning and wanted me to come take a look at my block he finished boring them this morning ( .040 over) and two cylinders still didnt clean up. There was a pretty good size ring ridge left in the top of two cylinders. But it was only on part of it. It wasnt all the way around. He said he thought it would be ok to run but wanted me to decide if I was on with it or not. After about an hour of discussion I decided we would go .060 over. I don't want to put this much money into it and have 2 cylinders that may not seal up or loose compression or even worse catch and break a ring. So I sent my .040 pistons back and ordered the .060s this morning. Getting closer tho it's almost done.

That sucks but you are doing the right thing. No sense in getting in a big hurry now and making problems later. Plus now you got more cubic inches lol

Either it was already over bored or it was a wore out POS. Glad you're doin it right.

Dang near a 383, Thumbs Up !

That's 50 more cubes than a stock 318.
I think its gonna be a pretty stout little small block. The base is there everything on the bottom is new except the rods. The heads have been worked but they are all stock replacement valves they are the original 1.88 valves. Eventually if I ever want to get some more power out of it I can upgrade heads intake and carb and have a pretty hot setup I believe. I'm pretty sure I'm gonna be happy with it as is tho. In a street car ment for cruising I think it will be more than enough

Yea that's what I was thinking too. I could just imagine a ring getting snagged and breaking off and gauging the walls and ruining the entire engine just because I didnt go over more lol

Got a little more work done this morning nothing major but it's the little things that add up lol.
I started cleaning all the bolts for the engine i got the valve covers and oil pan ones done. I got my hood popper latch put on and my window wiper motor put on. Turned out great imo. Want to give a big shoutout to @74 DART' for the latch cable it turned out very nice thanks man!! I gotta get some clamps to tie the cable down in the engine bay. But other than that it's in and it works

You and me both. I got my pistons ordered finally hopefully I will have the block back in a few weeks and can get started on putting it back together

Got the passenger side floor done finally just gotta vacuum and paint it now. I'm not gonna lie that thing was a pain in the arse! Kinda wish I would have just bought the dang thing now. It was alot harder to get it shaped that the rear was.....but I got it. I ran out of silicone caulk so I use some old tire bead sealer I had laying around it's like 15 years old but I'm sure its fine lol. It actually works pretty good as a seam sealer its thick enough it filled the gaps and its rubber so it should leak. I'm sure it's all wrong but it will be ok and it smells awesome too I'm sure that smell will linger thru the carpet for a 100 years or so! Hopefully tomorrow I can get the firewall put all back together and we can get a good rain in the next couple days so I can check for leaks. If I have them all sorted out I may go ahead and put some carpet down and start putting the interior back together while I'm waiting on my block to get finished!

Looks to me like you did a dang good job making it fit. If you haven't done it yet, dob up the seams on the bottom side to for added leak protection.
Thanks man. Yea i did I'm gonna let it cure and go over it another time or three. I just have the drivers side to do now and the floor is done. Haha the drivers isnt so bad tho just a few pin holes I'm not gonna cut the entire pan out like I did on the passenger and the rear just gonna cut out the holes and patch over them.
