Those Aussie chargers look like Gen 1 charger. I think they were A bodys too.

Back in 77 I got a job at a shop making motor speed controls, I drove my AAR to work and this kid comes up to me and goes nice car that is bad as hell ? Then he tells me he has a Charger Daytona ! WTF really You will have to take me and show me this and he says its in the parking lot. Lets go see and out we went to see a 1977 Charger Daytona ? I said that's not a Charger Daytona and went back inside. he was confused. That's when I told him to look it up.

I have a friend who has one. It has a 440 in it. It was a total SLUG when I first met him. I convinced him several years ago to let me have it for a week. 440 was mild, but not stock. Hp manifolds, aluminum intake Holley 750, but wouldn't get out of its own way. I pulled the front off, put a degree wheel on it, advanced the cam timing, got it back running and recurved the distributor. got the carburetor in tune. I just bet I added at least 75 LB FT. Now it will melt the back tires with very little effort. It's a damned nice car too. T-tops and all.

But that is a Charger Daytona. I remember those very well. While certainly not the performance car they were named after, you'd be hard pressed to find a car in another make the same year that was as nice and really sharp too. I thought they looked great.

Kursplat,
That Charger looks very
"Cordoba-esque".

Charger
Yep very cordoba-esque. My 77 charger was a dodge version of the cordoba. A hot rodded 69 440 swap, high stall converter, a shift kit, and dual exhaust with no catalytic converters, along with ditching the lean burn setup sure helped my old one out. She would definitely pull a fat chick off a bar stool after that. Of course the monster sized rotors and calipers on these things were designed to stop a 2 ton lump o lard lol. I still loved it though. It had white leather seats. Not sure if the hides were from Corinthia though. The 78-79 magnum was a nice improvement on the last of the B bodys. At the very least those big rotors and caliper are great on A body spindles for a nice bolt pattern upgrade and real responsive manual disc brakes.

I had a 77 charger. The 360 I'm building right now for my dart came out of it. I kinda wish I would have fixed it up now.

That right there is exactly what I had was a 77 Charger Daytona it was two tone like the one in the picture it was like a yellow and tan color tho. I like the blue alot better. The AAR is alot cooler tho haha

I agree, it is a Daytona but not the one I had a vision of.

Whenever I see a Cordoba I think of Bob Tarlek off of W.K.R.P. in Cincinatti.
I have driven a few that were stock, including one my oldest brother had that was a stock 400.
What a dog and gas guzzler it was.
A real piece of **** in my opinion that had no road feel and poor vision out the back.
And the interior was poorly fit and ''plastic fantastic''.
Styling wasn't too bad, but it definitely was a castrated float mobile.

On another note, I loved the looks of the Vega.
I even had a '71 station wagon when I was 17 and it was a decent looking car for a cheap throw away car.
The aluminum cylinder walls were bad on these and it got about 50 miles to a quart of oil.
It ran good otherwise, but the engine was a shitty design.
Throw a V8 in it and it was a good performer.
I wish I would have kept it and put a V8 in it, but I found a '71 Demon 318 3spd std. on the floor for cheap and bought that.
And now the rest of course is history...........

Hey...our Aussie mates deserve to have something we don't. They don't have guns and they're upside down all the time, so yeah....they deserve a win or 2! :D :p
considering the number of Aussies, both here and other car places, i see buying parts from here, this might be a case of "i got mine and i'm working on yours"

I used to have a 79 Cordoba with the 360. It was so comfortable and plush. Like sitting in the living room

Me too, the wife said I should get another one.
360-2bbl, Hwy. gears. No moon roof but everything else.
Brown and beige two tone beige interior. Buckets.

the Aussie cars may of got something else...

At least you get a seat pocket with that one. now how to figure out where to put a cup holder.

Nothing wrong with a Vega as long as it has a Chevy 350 under the hood like the one I used to own.
Me too! And mine was a red '72 very similar to the one pictured above. Twisted the body, cracked the windshield and the driver's door would pop open when I hamered it and the tires would grab some pavement. Boy, has this thread gone off the rails. LOL

I always liked the Mirada's always wanted to make a race car out of one
