just checking my options, I have a rebuilt 273, putting a D4B intake on it going in a 64 valiant with manual brakes and steering.I have the stock 273 exhaust manifolds and a set of 69 340 exhaust manifolds. I want to go with a dual exhaust ideally with the 340 manifolds. Hypothetically could i order the 67 to 69 TTI 2.5" head pipes to fit the 340 manifolds and the rest of the exhaust get the early 64-66 stuff?

No dual exhaust until 67. Don't they have a dual system for the 64-66 cars and hook to the 340 specific lead pipes?

Not that I saw on their site, that is why i was seeing if maybe I could mix and match to make it work, pass side may be close to the same, but drivers side is obviously dif

I don't believe they'll fit without a lot of work. But if tgey do they are a lot better than the 273 one's.

On my 66 cuda with factory 273 manifolds I have a TTI “x” pipe dual system with automatic. I went with the 2-1/2” system complete and Mike at TTI asked for the manifold numbers and made the compete system for me. Cost like $800 shipped to my door. No converting, no bs - but if I had to do again - I would go 2”.
SN- I did have to modify my trans cross member to fit passenger side. Directions to do that we’re in the box also.

Very nice, Like you mentioned 2" would be plenty.

The 340 manifolds will fit fine with no power steering, but it's a total waste, since the exhaust ports on the 273 are tiny compared to the 340 manifold ports. It's not going to gain you a thing. I would simply stick with the stock 273 manifolds. Simplifies things greatly.

so a 340 in a early a body can use the early 340 manifolds if no p/s or pb is that right? I'm working on one and trying to find a exhaust system thanks

The early LA manifold on left side had about 90 degree turn at the bottom of it. One owner compared the restriction to pooping through a straw LOL. At the same time, a heat riser in the right manifold would close pushing more exhaust pressure to that left side, yet it seemed to work, good enough for a stock engine anyway. That 90 degree turn in the left casting disappeared for 66 or 7 but even the 67 commando exhaust was still a single pipe. From what I've read, only the Y pipe was a little different from standard 273 2 brl.
I think I would want a later left manifold without that kink even if not 340. The value of a good set of 340 manifolds is about half of that 800 dollar dual exhaust system. All just points to ponder. Good luck

The Y pipe was larger, both individual pipes and the 2 1/2" outlet. The intermediate pipe was 2 1/2" to the muffler with a 2 1/4" tail pipe.

On my 65 Dart 273 10.5 LD4B I went with 2” from 273 manifolds back. Took it to an exhaust shop had it made. Had to modify tranny crossmember mount, easy mod.

I could not get them to work with my 340 in my 64 dart, but I have power steering and a 4 speed. @waggin actually did the work for me and may have more insight. Eventually went to Doug's headers, and even they hit everything and was difficult to get to work.

I have dougs headers in my other 64 Valiant with a 318 and 727, I was able to modify a Pypes A body 2 1/2" exhaust system to work, now just have to trim the pipes in the back shorter and add tips, but other that that it fit pretty good, especially for the price I paid at a swap meet.

I have the 67 manifolds, 64 manifolds and the 340 manifolds. I suppose I could just go with the Waldren single exhaust kit vs the TTI dual kit and save a bunch of $$
So just thinking out load...use the 67 manifolds and waldren exhaust for 65-67 barracuda.

You are probably correct, the advantage i see is, they could swap in a hotter engine or heads later, say a 340-360. Exhaust will already be there.

Sixes and small kyoob V8s respond very well to a good, free flowing single exhaust. You shouldn't leave that option out altogether......unless you "just want" duals.

Absolutely.....and of course, they "won't hurt" the 273 at all either.

And small ports dumping into large ones is better than the other way around. LOL No difference than putting a set of headers on your 273 or 318 to gain some performance.

I think I will just go with the 67 stock manifolds, Waldron's exhaust with mild imposter muffler and save the 340 manifolds for one of my other "future" projects

That works. A nice dual set up will improve performance and sound.

That chart doesn't seem to compensate for gas expansion/contraction?? When the exhaust gas leaves the exhaust ports it very, very hot and has greatly expanded at high temperature...as the gas works its' way to back of the system it cools and contracts. As it contracts it takes up less space and requires less pipe diameter. You can hold your hand at the tail pipe when the engine is running but there's no way you could hold your hand at the exhaust port with the manifolds removed.

You need to load your photo directly to the site. You may be able to see it but we can't. Are you cutting and pasting? OOps, sorry. It was a damn PDF. They drive me crazy. LOL

So were you able to open it? If not, maybe I can print it, scan it and save it as a JPEG.
