So, SLR. How much is too much?

Currently mine is sitting at 11.91. which would explain why it's hard to get the car to hook properly.
So what is a good SLR?

In the book “ How To Hook And Launch” there’s a handy chart showing the ideal (as a target) number which obviously is calculated by rear ratio, first gear ratio and stroke. Tire diameter has to be factored into the equation also.My van has a 4” stroke, 4.10 rear, 2.45 first gear and 27” tires. In the books chart it shows I should be at 9.75 or 10, I don’t have it in front of me but I know I’m approx .15 or so above the number which is close enough. I’m not making quite the power you are or running your numbers but it dead hooks everytime with a proper burnout with a 1.625 as a best 60’

Remember that there are always other variables, like track prep, tire compounds, suspension, carb tune, etc.. I have 13.32 in my 3,550+ lb Dart Sport 360/904 footbraking to a 1.47 60' and 11.14 @ 117+ best. Other class cars have more. But each combo, what your trying to do with it, and what you have to work with, can be different different.

Also your torque converter is a torque multiplier ......going to a lot of difference between a 3000 rpm and 5000 rpm launch in the amount of torque ,,,,,

I was trying with the idea of swapping my 3.55 chunk in the car and see how it does. But I kinda think it will hurt more than it helps.. plus I'm planning on a new trans and this time I'm not getting a low gear first.
