History Flies Again - 75th Anniversary of Japans Surrender Ending WWII

Today is the 75th anniversary of Japans Surrender ending World War II.
To commemorate the event there was a flyover in SoCal today with the feature aircraft being the same C-53 that flew over Normandy during the 75th anniversary of D-Day last year.
My wife and I drove over to Brackett Field in Pomona (just across the street from Auto Club Raceway at Pomona), got a great lunch from the diner at the airport and sat outside in their shaded picnic area alongside the runways.
Sorry I couldn't get a better pic. I wish they had been lower. This is the best I could do to get them all in one pic...

Today's Orange County Register newspaper had an article about a local WWII veteran, 96-year old Pat Hofferbert, who was onboard a C-53 flying injured soldiers between Saipan and Guam when news of the surrender was received aboard the aircraft. He was flying today aboard "D-Day Doll", the C-53 in the pic above.
