If I ground the button on the turn signal switch, it works. And there is a lead with a connecting terminal in the wheel, but no where to plug it.The horn button should operate a relay on the firewall. It could be the issue also. Its probably ground triggered so you may have a wire going to ground somewhere.
You should have a wire from the metal ring on the back that goes though the hole right near the loose terminal that's hanging there. The wire may be broke off and crammed down in the hole grounding it out.View attachment 1715588839 View attachment 1715588840 Hello everyone! Got almost everything ironed out with the lights. Everything works except the cluster turn indicator. Anyway, the new turn signal switch has a horn contact. Horn started blowing when I installed wheel. Looks like I'm missing something? Car is a 74 Duster. I checked in the steering column section of the downloaded manual. Don't show in detail( that area) . Any ideas what I need ? I would hate to unplug it all...... in advance, Thanks!
I dont see a metal ring there. Just the splines collar that's part of the wheel. Could that be missing. It looks like the splined insert may be grounding on the horn contact at the TS switch. I dont see any wire either, other than the red one coming off the 3 contacts on the frontYou should have a wire from the metal ring on the back that goes though the hole right near the loose terminal that's hanging there. It looks like the contact plate (ring) might be missing, here is a different wheel with a good view of the horn wire but it's from a different style ( same theory),I dont see a metal ring there. It's from my Duster. Glasses on and looked with a flashlight. Just a little tag on the wire. No date. Pretty sure it's an original. and I saw a 74 wheel on Ebay. What year wheel do you have?
The end of the steel ring that is turned 90 degrees is what cancels the turn signal switch. I dont see that in you pic either. I thought all models had this same design. That contact ring is formed in a bed of gray colored plastic to insulate it. That would break into pieces and cause a constant horn blow. I think aftermarket offers the contact ring but I dont know about replacement steel ring.It looks like the contact plate (ring) might be missing, here is a different wheel with a good view of the horn wire but it's from a different style ( same theory),
