This gasket set was for a 273. The intake on one of the heads seems to be a bit off center The gasket is barely catching the edge of the divider between the ports could this be something like casting shift. 273, 340 Both have 48゚ angle. 65 273 intake has 5/6 bolts not drilled at 90゚angle.

Yep, that is fairly normal. The water port on the 340 manifold is a bit sketchy but the others look normal.

What about the gasket hanging over so far it blocks a portion of the port

Clean it up, nothing good will happen with the gasket overlapping the port, unless it does not overlap the intake port.

stamped steel should only be used on iron+iron intakes, not AL intakes. Looks spot on for the 360 pic. IIRC thats a 360 universal intake gasket as the ports are 360 sized. You'd be hard pressed to find a 273/318 port sized intake gasket nowadays unless its NOS <1968

Fel-Pro still sells the 318 port size intake gaskets.

I think I might use the cast iron intake I thought was 360 does this number show it being a 1968 340 manifold.
Seems to fit better than than the others. Slight angle on the bolt head with no egg shaped. The to front ones might need egg shape because the thick part of the manifold might make ofset washer's what do you think.

Should I use the fel pro intake gasket or the thin metal If I used the cast iron. Do you always use the thin metal on the cast iron manifold

With the head of the bolt not flush will there be an oil leak becuse the bolts go into The Valley Or will it seal on the threads

It is always good to use a sealant on intake bolt threads and around the water ports. These washers from McMaster-Carr might get you close to level.

Those look perfect get my intake gaskets today I'll check the taper

I used Seal it on my water pump and timing cover never thought about it on the intake

You putting a late intake on a early 273?

Yes 1 Any suggestions

My other idea is sit down for this one take my 2 barrel millet down and turn it into a 4 barrel
Many have ground down the bolt pockets to 90° to the intake surface and enlarged the holes to accept the right size bolts. I would be tempted th try those slick angled washers that 66fs posted above.

The bolts screw in by hand no wrench all the way down may file slightly. the to front holes are thicker so they will require more filing

I will get those washer's I was gonna cut my own with some tubing bur those look pretty inexpensive

I doubt they will be large enough. What is the max angle? Maybe if you use both.

I'll get some pics tonight. I got both an Eddy D66 and an Offy. Both made for the 64/65 273 head bolt angle.

I read somewhere the angle difference. I sure can't find that info now. Got a protractor? LOL
