Pulled the old 26" radiator and Contour fans out of the Dart, and started trial-fitting the aluminum radiator. The upper hose and the lower right bolt (bracket notch slips over it) are the only things I don't have to refabricate...
- Outlet is 1-3/4" (old one was 1-1/2"). My lower hose is two silicone elbows and a piece of aluminum tubing. Maybe I can find a 1-3/4" hose at the chain store IF I can get past the "year, make, model" dummy at the counter. Would a BB B-body hose be right (same rad, same WP, same block) even if I have to cut a little off?
- The four shroud holes (that held the brackets I made to match the Contour fans) have the same spacing vertically - but not horizontally. And the way the aluminum frame is made, I'll have to use clip nuts. Maybe fasten a piece of 3/32" or 1/8" sheet to each side, and then drill holes in the sheet where the fans want them. Clearing the frame rails of course.
- Height above the core support measures about the same, but will try carefully closing the 'glass hood before drilling new bolt holes and mounting the rad permanently ;)
- I'm sure I will have to trim some more plastic off the fans where the WP pulley nearly touches.
Ah, the joys of big-block A-bodies. For my sanity I'm glad I never tried this on an early A :p
